I know this is kinda a schoolboy question but lately my glass has been getting very green/brown and it is happening more frequently.
Not really sure what i have done to cause it to happen so quickly between clean but what can I do to stop it?
Its no big deal but a bit annoying if you know what I mean.

Thanks.

What you have is algae. Algae needs nutrients, especially nitrogenous wastes and phosphates, and light in order to thrive. If you want to fight the algae you will have to reduce at least one of these necessities. You can:

use fewer or less powerful lights
reduce the length of time you leave the lights on
increase water change size and/or frequency (to remove nitrogenous wastes)
use live plants or an algal filter to use up nutrients

If it is a mild case you can also keep algae in check with snails.

Mag-float your tanks once a day, keep algae at bay! (Came up with that one myself!! :nilly:)

i use a coarse filter sponge to clean the inside glass and a sponge then paper towel to dry it on the outside

werd I love my mag floats best money spent :headbang2 Also feed less and clean more always keeps the algae away.

Magfloat? Is that the thing that sticks to inside of glass while you move it from the outside?
Does his also work on curved surfaces?
And finally I presume this isn't so easy to use on the back as it is up against the wall an so can't get your arm down the back of the tank lol make sense?

Yeah that is the thing. Go to www.drfostersmith.com they have mag floats for acrylic , glass , and bow front/ curves. As for the back wall usually have to do that manually...:D

also: when cleaning outside of tank, make sure to be SUPER GENTLE... or else dust/crap on the surface can scratch it. i did this myself and now have a beautiful, scratched to hell tank. :)
