So I have some HUGE decorations in some of my tanks. In my Cichlid tanks.... no issues I pick it up rearrange and vacuumed underneath, what I am asking about are things to big to move without wrecking plants and stacked hard scape.

My plecos and cats love to live under these things and I try to vacuume around them then when I refill I try to use the flow to dislodge the mountains of pleco/catfish/polli waste but I know there is no way I am getting it all.

Would adding a power head lower in the tank fix this, or maybe put in some air stones under them ?

Could we get a picture? I might be able to offer a better potential solution if I can see it physically.

The piece now Is a universal rocks stump, about 30 inches long and as wide as the 125 its in, planted and stacked stone all round it, another big issue is its hollow, universal rocks are like casts of the real thing. I stuffed that hollow with lava rock in filter media bags. The fish I have have been evicted from it a few time I try to block the entrance they dug, they just dig another.

I am also asking because I have 4-5 pieces of large wood Ill be stacking in my 185 soon and am wondering ways I can keep the detritus from building up under them.

I've noticed that various forms of waste matter seems to find it's way underneath decorative items.I have an artificial branch in one of my tanks and when I move it for cleaning or whatever a big plume of mulmy poop billows up into the water column.
I don't use them but I suspect that well placed powerheads would keep such mess from settling and accumulating on the bottom.
