In search of Leiarius
They aren't free swimming, mostly crawl around and I need a way to get rid of them for good that is safe for scaleless and scaled fish.

just wait if they dont have any food they will die, if you cant wait im sure theres a chemical to use but you would have to fined out what they are so you get the right stuff

They are midges and eat detritus so I can eliminate the food supply.

prob wont last anymore than a week with no food, oh and what color is the larva if red most likely blood worms just put fish in and they will eat them all and like chrisplosion said the Mosquito fish would work too

Fish can't seem to eat all of them its an indoor tropical fish pond. with gupies to 18 inch catfish. Yes bloodworms

get a fire eel he will eat them all in a day there crazy for them

Found a chemical way potassium permaganate or high levels of salt. Either way i have to move the fish, so waiting until I upgrade the pond later this year will be best. Catfish love eels.

thats crazy how your fish haven't eaten them all by now you said you have a bgk i feed mine the frozen ones and he cant get unnuff i would think he wouldent stop till there all gone there must be a crazy amount of them in there. but i would stick to the starving them to death its the cleanest just take the fish out, and get a gravle vac and try to suck up as much of the detritus or fecal matter so you dont have to Waite to long for them to eat all there food, put a cover over the pond or a mesh net so they cant get out as the flys since no one is eating them the will reproduce very quickly eating a lot and not being able to go anywhere and with out food they wont last then when there all dead check water parameters and add fish back, not such a fan of chemicals especially with scaleless fish

maybe they are not blood worms or mosquitos larvas(blood worms always stay at the bottom and mosquitos larva usually swim around and they don't crawl), can you take some picture ?
