All of a sudden, out of the blue, I have a nasty infestation in my gar tank - I just discovered them today, for the first time ever - they look like tiny leeches, some are pinkish, others black - might be anchor worms, but I can see some on the glass with my magnifying glass, and they look like nematodes. Tiny, ugly.
I never feed live food or meaty foods, except for two dead shiners that I put in over a month ago. No sign of any up until today.

I first found 3, 2 on my tilapia, 1 on my gar, and later in the evening, I found more, and just found the ones on the glass, too - so I need to nuke the tank.

What's a good generic killer that I can find at PetCo tomorrow morning?

Sounds like uneaten food was left over, likely from the meat. I think those are harmless, maybe not. Never had them so not much help, keep up on 25% every 1-2 days if not more and keep tank cleaner!

This tank gets no meat at all - only Hikari and Ken's pellets. The water is changed twice a week, approx 70%. Couldn't be cleaner.

They are not harmless - some are attaching themselves to the fish - I think they are like micro leeches or something.

Thanks for the suggestion on Hikari Prazipro. I'll pick some up in the morning. Thanks!

This tank is now the hospital tank - Putting any of the fish in a new tank would only spread the worms, while not remedying the original tank problem.
