hi park.. what sort of aros are you talking about??? it is very tough to determine the sex of arowanas.. most are assumptions.. have a look at this thread.. very old one though..
I believe telling the sex of arowana physically is near impossible. Thats why most arowana farms just place a huge number of aros in a large pond or lake and just hope for the best, sometimes all the arowanas are of the same sex and no eggs were laid. But some fishkeepers could get lucky that their pair are of opposite sex and actually bred.
