hey guys.....so, as i posted in another thread, i just got a GT and put him in with a solo pleco...

question is: how to make a "small" tank seem "bigger" for the fish?

right now - i have it pretty plane, couple rocks, with a large piece of driftwood.....so there is more room to swim

would adding more driftwood, and hence making more nics and crannys, caves for the fish be better or worse? it would take away the free swimming space, but give more hiding places.....

what is better?

this is for a 40gal.....

i say go bare bottom, a few pieces of driftwood, and 1 cave

its kind of a catch 22. If you put more decor in the tank you do cut up the line of sight for your fish but then by putting in decor you also take up water volume.

I had the same dilemma so I kept it simple- 3 pieces of mopani carefully placed to make a pyramid so it breaks the line of sight and provides caves and then just a small flowerpot for breeding. Definitely makes the tank look big for what it is.
