How to make aquarium syphon stronger. Doesn't suck doodoo the way I want . I have a 180 with sand, so a powerhead at the end is not an option...

Sammy if its your gravel vac just go over the top of the sand with it but if sand lifts up in the tube crimp hose and sand will fall back down.

You have to reduce the size of the suction end. I'm assuming you are using a standard aquarium siphon that has 1/2 vinyl tubing connected to a large rigid piece that is about 2". If you get rid of the 2" piece and use just the 1/2" tubing then you will get a much stronger suction. Of course, the down side is that you are now only working with a 1/2" nozzle. Another option would be to get a piece of 3/4-1" vinyl tubing from the hardware store and just use the straight tubing like mentioned before. This will give you a little larger nozzle and will have a higher suction pressure. This will cause issues if you have sand or get too close to your substrate as you will have suction strong enough to suck the sand right up, and probably some gravel too.
