How to make gator gar darker?

Any tips here on how to make the color of the gator more darker?
Coz I want a darker color on my Gator.hehe

I wonder if the amount/brightness of light doesn't contribute to their darkness?

yes, dim lights are the best for a healthy coloured gar. no lights do result in washed out(night time) colours, but im not sure if this is the case if the gars are left in zero lights 24/7. too bright a lighting system will likely stress out gars
