my tank is 6x2x2 and my tank holds 2 peacock bass ones 14+ inches and the other 8-10 inches..i want to build lighting for it..anyone know how to? if so can you please tell me step by step..thanks..
That's a big question...What kind of lighting? Florescent? LED? MH? Power compact? Candlelight?
You need to be specific in what kind of lighting you want to use. They all have different applications and advantages. Is this a planted tank? Is this a low light tannin colored tank? Is this a low light tank?
Do you have any experience with wiring? Why not just buy? Is it a project you wan to do or a need to keep it cheap?
clamp lamps! you can put whatever bulb you want in them. for your sized tank, i would get three of these and put them every 2 feet. i don't know how bright you want it so wattage will be an experiment
.
anyone have any pics of a clamp light setup? Sounds like a good idea. You could build a hood to mount them and not worry about something bumping them and having them move or fall in the tank and put some of the flourescent energy saving bulbs in them. I wonder....
We have a tank with a similar footprint but a bit taller. We used compact florescent kits from http://www.ahsupply.com/. I used sex bolts to fasten the kits to the canopy spacing the reflecters 1/2" away to help with heat transfer.
Two 96W kits should fit in the hood side by side and you can place the ballast outside of the canopy to help with the heat buildup. Four and you can put them on timers seperately.
