Im running into a problem, 3 days out of the week I can only feed my 4" retic once a day (at around 9:30PM). I had feed (otherwise it gets sucked up the filter) it frozen bloodworms, and it takes them from my hand, but doesnt "eat like a pig." He is skinny and I want to fatten him up. I've had him for a couple of weeks. I tried black/trout worms, and he likes bloodworms better, but just eats a few. I have a strong Eheim filter, so if he doesnt eat them, they dont stay on the tank bottom for very long. Any tricks to fettn em up?

Thanks,
John

turn off the filter for a few minutes while feeding.

make him eat trout worms.

mine would eat as many worms as i would throw in, but would not touch market shrimp or fish filets...........well i added a few polys, WHALA competition for food and the retic is an absolute pig now. eats just about everything......still working with some pelets, but i can live with the variety i have now.

I think it all depends on the ray itself. I had 2 WC retics at the same time. The female started eating a couple of days before the male. She also eats more now, fat as all hell and growing fast. while the male eats ever so often and has not grown at all.

Bichirs huh... I also have a WC Red C. and trying to get her off worms period. Going to see if I can find a Bichir big enough so my Armatus wont break him in half

thanks, the problem is that i have 2 filters running along with a powerhead. So I made this little contraption, a bottom of a water bottle covered in the netting that whole garlic cloves come in, and put the worms in there so they are not taken away by the current. Some of the black worms stick out of there, and ive seen the ray eat a couple, but doesnt try very hard to get more.
