my rtc got a gill parasite 2 weeks ago but has since been cured, water has 0 ammonia and ph at 6.5 to 7. the tank is 250 gal and he is about 16 inches long, he hasn't eaten in 2 weeks, he made an attempt to eat about 2 days ago but didn't eat how can i make him eat? he hasn't lost any color and and still moves around but im worried about him what should i do?

What are you feeding him? Try shrimp maybe. Idk I've never been able to get mine to stop eating....

It sounds stressed out a little maybe from all the meds and so on. I would not turn on the lights in the aquarium for a couple days, just the regular light in the room is fine. Offer food maybe every other day that will give the water time to clean and might induce a feeding response. Kinda like if the house smelled like steak 24/7 most likely you would not want to eat steak ever again lol. But when you first smell the steak........ oh yeah! :D

Brilliant!:D

yea ive heard that. i think he is most likely stressed from meds, this in not the first time he fasted, he once went 1 week but that was at 7 inches.

Yeah sorry, Mine eats all the time as well. It could be the meds, but with what I have seen with stressed fish is that it will take them 4-5 days to get back in the groove of things. With fish that had parasite problems, I had a hard time getting them back to normal and this took weeks, and unfortunately, I couldnt save all of them :( I wish u the best!

I'm going through the same situation. I suspect my RTC of having gill parasites so I got it on meds. Since finishing treatment, it doesn't seem to have the same appetite as before but at least its taking in some food every other day. BTW, im curious as to what meds u used for the parasites.

there's an older thread on me writing about my big cat not eating, at same time that wetwhiskers wouldn't eat. They both went for over a month w/out eating, which we all know that's not typical. Needless to say, we both still have our cats. I tried so much different stuff with mine. So much. So many water changes, etc. I'd have to look up the thread to see what, if anything special to get him to start eating again. I even tried goldfish, but didn't eat one....look up big cat not eating....Hang in there. I know how stressful it is
