How to make rocks safe for aquarium use?

I have some large smooth creek stones I want to use in my tank is their a way I can effectively clean them? I have heard of boiling them would that make them explode? The tank is freshwater so ph is not a factor. I know the rocks are non pourous and are not limestone as i have tested for acidity. Any tips would be awesome, thanks!

Rinse them well and scrub them....boiling is recommended too and will get rid of any diseases/contaminants (you should boil for about 10 minutes, & no the rocks won't explode), and put them in the tank.

Thank you very much. I scrubbed them all very well and boiled them for about 15 minutes, some bubbling, but no explosion like you said They were not in water for at least 4 years they were in my front yard landscaping.

They almost 100% won't explode, but sometimes will crack if cooled down quickly, happened to me, but with granite.

Tada! Went off without any issues, fish are all doing fine. Speaking or rock I really want to change over from gravel to sand, any tips on how to do that?

use a dust pan,or cut a 1 gal. water jug,keep handle on it,if you use jug,cut hole in the bottom so the water will run out and stay in tank

boil, leave in bucket test ph, if ph changes, boil again, then repeat.
