Long story short I find myself living in south Florida. Our house that we moved into is running well water. When I first moved into the house I filled up my tank with this water, in appearance the water was brown/orange. I let the filters do their thing for a week after adding water clarifier to see what kind of things the filter pads would catch, the water ended up clearing up mostly, except it turned my blue filter cartridges bright orange. I then tossed the cartridges, tested the water and everything tested great. I tossed in 3 little feeder goldfish (the water was still a little orange) and they survived in that water. After all of that work I still was not comfortable putting my BPs in it, so I broke down and have been buying water from Publix next door. What is the best water purification system to buy, if any, the make the well water usable for my fish? Given the description of my house water am I pretty much doomed to buying water from the grocery store every week unless I move? Looking for something somewhat portable, it would be used for water changes on my betta tanks, 2 10 gallons, and a 60 gallon. I usually do a 25% per week on all tanks. Hopefully once I figure this out I can upgrade to a 125+ gallon. *crosses fingers*. Any ideas? I've never lived in a place where my tap water simply wouldn't cut it.
P.S. I told those feeders that if they lived they'd be granted their freedom and thrown in a 6x20 ft fish pond. I hope I did not give them the willpower to stick it out for those few days they lived in there.
