heaven is my home
i know how to rinse dirt off a worm but what i am wondering is, is there a way to purge worms and get out all the dirt and muck that is inside them? i used to purge crawdads by putting them in water and adding salt and that would make them cough up all the dirt. is there a way to do this with worms? because my tank gets nasty after a big feeding

I just squeeze the dirt out before feeding them to my rays

You can just squish the **** out of them. Although I doubt that is what is making you water "nasty" after feeding. Most likely it is over feeding. Are you feeding just worms or other foods as well?

thanks for the tips guys. what do you mean by overfeeding? uneaten worms in the tank? if so, nah there are never any left overs, i got some hungry fellas. oh and i squished the crap out of em just a little while ago and it seemed to be a lot cleaner. i just hated to see brown pukish crap coming out my rays and fishes mouth while eating.

Yeah, i have a bare bottom tank and i notice the sand build up if i dont squezze the dirt out. Tip i learned here on MFK

I keep mine in shallow water in the fridge and change the water every day for about four days. Then the earthworms are pretty much empty and ready to be eaten.

Are your worms alive after the 4th day? My Bowfin only eats live, if the worms are dead he'll just spit it out.
