How to make your synodontis shut up

I got a synodontis catfish. (yellow with black spots-35 bucks) Its bout 4-5 inches, and super active, my problem, is that it likes to rip around the top of the tank at night, and swim into the filter current, making a loud splashing noise, this is driving me crazy, she does this every 5 minutes can i make it stop?

I would add some more current to the tank and get some/more driftwood. Obviously he loves the current at the top so why not add some below the surface? Just my suggestion.
