I'm currently in the process of converting my freshwater tank to Brackish water. I know the process is a very slow one and I've got to be careful not to add too much salt too quickly.

I've been using the Deep Six Hydrometer, but have read that it isn't very accurate at all. I've been adding salt over 3 weeks now and used an Oceanic Sea Salt mix for 50g. The tank is 210g. Should I have any Salt readings? My hydrometer still doesnt register anything.

What do you use to measure salinity in your BW/ SW tank?

you use the same gadget you use in sw...Brackish should give a reading of 1.012.

any gadget in particular you would suggest?

refractormeter? hydrometer?

one with my preferred range of sg?

i use a hydrometer for all my sw tanks i use the coral life hydrometer dont use the old school floaty ones they tend to break and a salinity of 1.011-1.013 is good...

what about this thing?

yep.. that is the GADGET

this is what i currently have and i've been told its pretty much junk...

How much salt would you need in a 210g to get a reading of about 1.015?

I do not remember exactly ( please check, there are loads of places in here with that ), but I seem to recollect that for SW it was 3 grams per litre..so you should be ok with 1,5 grams per litre...
