Im moving my Oscar, Tinfoil Barb, Firemouth, Pictus Cat, and common pleco. I am moving them 2 hrs away on the highway. They are going from a (yes i know overstocked) 30 gallon to my new 80 gallon. When they get there the 80 gallon has been setup for 2 weeks to get everything going. I have an aquaclear 110 on the 30 gallon and on the 80 gallon (80g being 2hrs away). I plan on bringing the aquaclear 110 with me from the 30g with the filters intact bc of the benificial bacteria but im leaving the 30 gallon tank at home. On the car ride im putting the fish in 2 coolers lined with black garbage bags ( one for the Oscar) (one for the others) im attaching my air pump to the power inverter i have in my car outlet. When i get to my destination im going the float the bags for a while then release.

Is there a better way to do this?? or am i just over complicating things

there is no need for the air pump unless its a huge fish or something.

I went 6 hours with just a fish in a bag and the bag was in a cooler to keep temp constant. no hair pump or anything. fish was just fine.

just recently had a fish in a bag in a cooler for about 4 hours. And this one was even put in a bag by a newb and had waaaay too much water. Still fine.

yeah, I wouldn't sweat it, your plan sounds perfect. I moved all my fish a few hours, and just used a styrofoam cooler. the garbage bags are a good idea, though, in case the cooler cracks or something. the air pump won't hurt, but probably isn't completely necessary.

"Its better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it."

ok bc i was planning on going to wallmart to get a T tube connector so i can pump air in both coolers. I was going to do this bc i herd that Tinfoil barbs are always the first to die bc of lack of oxygen and stress

nyaah they will be alright
just get a big bag fill it 1/3 with water and leave the rest for air
and they can stay good for a long time (thats how they ship 'em here and i have seen huge tin foils being brought in
the fms can also be moved in the same way

and about the cats their O2 requirements are quite lower than the barbs
and chiclids so you should be good for more than 6 hours

Ok, heres what you do..... move the fish CcarefullyY Probably in some water.... I think fish like water, oh and dont stop at wendy's, I did that once and got fish soup.

Hey I dont support the banning of me!! Hey u would be supprised about how retarded people are ( I really didn't do that by the way!)

That's pretty much exactly how I do it, good luck!

That will work,
or you can do what I did, I just went to the lfs, got the biggest bags they had (as quite a few of my fish are pushing 1 ft) , filled with 1/3 water and dropped the fish in and tied them...fish sat in bags for longer than that, just kept them in out of the sun, made sure they wouldn't overheat or get crushed, and they were fine......only time I use air pumps is for minnow buckets, however like I said allready, your method will work too, just a bit of an overkill, but better safe then sorry.
