Guys, I know that this may have been previous discussions on this but I need advice on how to move a 15 inch red arowana. :nilly:

I've read different things about it and need the safest and most gentle way (not to damage fins and scales).

The trip is 10 mins to my house from the guy I will buy it from.

Do I drug? Use a tshirt? Do I use a bag or cooler?

Any suggestions from folks who have actually tried it would be much appreciated. :D

Am getting it at a good price - it's a Kaiju Red....

My greenie is gonna have some company :WHOA:

Thanks in advance all!

for such a short distance it is no trouble.

Pick it up with a pillow case , closed in one end( plastic bags tend to explode when we take them, with the aro inside, out of the water and you have an aro flying through the room).

Put it in suitably sized container, if possible with a battery operated airstone. If not possible, 10 minutes is no problem ( I've transported monsters for more than 2000 kilometres ).

Put only the water you need to completely cover the fish. In 10 minutes you will need no extra jery cans of water.

Take care while catching the aro. Aians tend to simply loose their tails ( sometimes they break off completely ) It will grow back, although slightly deformed.

15 inch shouldn't be bad, but a pillowcase is the way to go. i'm about to move my 29"er and am definitely not looking forward to it....

What Mig said...

My only change would be to add plenty of water, but thats just my .02

NO DRUGS!

okay thanks!!

am just terrified of damaging it because it'll be my first expensive aro :-)

i still love my green, but this guy is a beauty

thanks again for the advice fellas

Don't use a pillowcase :ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

Foolish suggestion.

It's not going to hold water, so your fish will freak out and damage itself.

It will tear it's fins, lose scales or break off it's barbels.

Why don't you just use a big plastic bag?

Triple bag or more if you're afraid it will explode...hasn't happened to me though.

Get some from your nearby fish store or try heavy duty garbage bags.

Make sure there's enough water in the bag to chase your fish into it and you're done.

have you ever put something in a pillow case? what happens? the pllow case holds it in place by its own weight, thus limiting its move ment like when you wrap somthing in a towel...it is not supost to hold water:screwy: it is to move it inside the case from a tank of water to a cooler of water from the origanal tank...have you ever seen how they move whales and large sea fishes/ mammals...craddles dont hold water eather...the laughing is on the other end, but not yours
