Hello all,

I have a 200 gallon I am setting up and It has 4 holes drilled into it (all in the bottom of the tank, 3 on one side, 1 on the other. There was a wall that cut off about 30 gallons for it to spill into, fill up, drain into 3 holes, move through sump then get pumped up the other one hole).

I knocked down the wall because i am going to have the water spill into the box around the one hole then get pumped back in over the back. I'm having to do this because my wife said the way it was set up was ugly (with the big fat wall on one end).

I'm trying to make this as pleasant an experience for her as possible since it was pulling teeth to get her to agree to this tank!

So anyway 2 of the holes are 2 inches across, the 3rd is 1 3/4 across. I am having the hardest time finding someting to plug the holes. I dont care if something sticks out of it a couple inches. I can hide them with rocks or something. I went to home depot and found caps but nothing looks like it will really work long term.

Any tips would be most appreciated!

Buy bulk heads in case you want to use them another day and then go to Lowes and foe plugs in the plumbing department

I had 3 bulkheads for it but needed ones that had threads on the inside as well so I could screw a plug into them. I found some at ponds plus around where I live. Thanks for the tips!

He means +1, as in he agrees with the post he quoted ;)

I would think simply using a bulkhead and a pvc plug would be a lot easier to open up some day than siliconing a piece of glass over the hole. It sounds like you already have bulkhead fittings, just put plugs in them, problem solved. If you went with threaded ones, you can just put plumbers tape on the threads. Then if you ever want to use the bulkhead fittings, you just take the plug out, instead of having to pry a piece of glass off and cleaning silicone off of the tank.

I have recently done the same thing. Used bulk heads with plugs from lowe's. Very simple and easy to bring back into the mix later on if you feel the need.
