Hi,

Say you are gonna medicate and remove the carbon out of the filters. How do you preserve them so that after you are done medicating they are still good to be put right back in?

It's hard to screw up carbon without trying. You can keep it in a bucket of water, or you can let it dry out. It doesn't really matter.

Rinse it well and then zip-lock it and stick the bag in the fridge.

What does the fridge do?

Spread it out on a cookie sheet, bake it until all of the moisture is gone then put it back in the container it came from. This way no nasties will grow.

Some will say baking will regenerate it some also, although I think you need temperatures higher than your regular oven can provide to regenerate carbon.
