i was thinking of getting some anubias and philippine fern, but dont know anything about properly QT plants. so do i need a heater? i only have play sand for substrate, how much lighting? do they need a filter? does the tank/bucket has to be cycled? i was thinking of placing them in a 5 gallon bucket for QT... and i was thinking of just adding some fish food for "fertilizer"??? what do you guys think?? thanks

i usually dont QT my plants i just put them in my tank but i get them from someone i trust. i have heard letting them soak in tap water for a while is a good idea or even a quick dip in a bleach/water solution works.

when i do a plant order off the net here in a few months im going to soak mine in tap water for a few hours while i get the tank set up.... mostly caz its BB now and i just wouldnt have anywere to put the plants if i didnt but thats just me.

quarantine them like you would a fish. Neither of the plants you listed need a specific heat, so save yourself some electric bill. Don't add salt. Some methods I have used is a quick dip in VERY weak bleach solution followed by a few hours in tap, or a very mild pottasium permanganate solution for a few seconds... only use for hardier plants though.

i do mine in just straight tap water with the chlorine in it. wont hurt the plants to much i dont think atleast my water doesnt and it may help to kill off some stuff.

QT isn't necessary, but algaes and snails can be killed with a light bleach solution, however, eggs will not always be killed by this method.

i wonder if plants(these plants in particular), are sensitive to temp swings?? cause i do crank the AC on every now and then which dramatically changes the temp specially since theres no heater in the bucket.

and anyone tried using Alum?? where do i buy it? and how do i use/dose it? thanks
