how to quiet that sump pump?

my sump pump keeps making this rattleing noise, the noise will go right away when you pick the pump up in the water and its not touching any part of the wet/dry. How do you guys keep your sump pump quiet? btw its a mag12

Did you use that foam pad it comes with? if not a sponge works well to muffle the noise. just make sure you buy a UN soaped sponge, and clean it well before using it.

I use a flexable hose from the pump...hard line tends to transmit vibrations bad...

What kind of pump? Does it have alot of hours on it?

Are you sure the isn't any air in the pump? (probably not, that doesn't go away when you pick it up)

Can you feel the noise when you pick it up?

The impeller maybe cracked or just have gunk on it throwing it out of balance. Take it apart and look for slime, small gravel or chipped/cracked/even out of balance impeller (could come from the factory like that too).

its a mag 12 brand new, i have a flexable hose going to the return, i cant feel the noise when its picked up, didnt come with a sponge to put it on, only came with the prefilter. will have to pull it apart

IF the case is just sitting on the bottom of your sump then that is your problem. no need to pull it apart. just use a dampening devise is all, buy a sponge and put between the pump and the sump it WILL muffle the noise

Mag12's should come with the noise pad. check the box.
