I know this sounds like a dumb question but i bet i get 3 different answers !!!! How do you READ the Nitrate test chart on Aquarium Pharmeceuticals Nitrate test kit ??? After you mix the two components and get your color do you hold it OVER the color chart and compare colors, half over the color and half over the white and compare or NEXT to the color chart and compare. Your results can vary quite a bit depending on HOW you read it.

Sorry for the dumb question ......i had to ask.

Thanks

I had the same question about 2 years ago and I talked to an AP rep and they said to hold the vial up to the white part but not touching it and use good light to see the colors and match it up to the color next to it. But if your like me and your freshwater tank reads out to about 100 ppm, then just wait until the vial turns a blood red, panic, freak out, slap your wife then do a 150% water change, watch your fish stress out then finally give up and buy a duck or goat.

Thats the funniest reply i've ever gotten

True too :D

I'm actually reading about 30ppm so i guess i'm pretty lucky.

I like the Duck idea.

No Goats unless its a Pontiac.

Way too funny...
funnier than when my buddy used the string from his sweats,
to dry his ammonia test vial out...
I have never seen a dark forest green results before,
good thing he only freeked out and did an 80% w/c...no goats or ducks though
