how to read test kit?

I need some clarification. I have a test kit made buy aquarium pharmaceutical. (The liquid kind). My question is when a place the vile of water op to the card do I put up to the white side, or over the color chart and read through the vile?

the white side. or hold it up to some natural light. its a little difficult, but youll get used to it

Thats what I thought but I get better results the other way. I guess another water change is coming.

make sure u drop in the exact amount of drops
for example: ph test 3 drops if by mistake u drop 5 it may make it darker than it should be ...
