Love my 300g acrylic tank but previous owner painted the exterior back a baby blue color, want to change it to black...any ideas? If it was glass I'd use the old razor blade...thanks for any suggestions

As far as I know you would have to sand it off and then wet polish to get your clarity back.

Kinda what I thought, I was hoping someone had some miraculous "hack" I didn't know. Guess it's staying blue unless I break it down one day.
Thanks

I have heard WD-40 works to remove spray paint from acrylic, but have never tried it personally.

electric palm sander will make quick work of it... ive painted heavily scratched acrylics and you cant tell from the inside as it appears clear still. esp. in black.

Thanks for your advice, I guess I'll try a little wd40 on a small section, if it doesn't look like it will work I have a sander. Not something that's happening in the near future, I'll have to breakdown the tank to move it.

I'm sure you probably already check, but just on the off chance you handn't checked yet.... have you made sure it is paint and not a heat shrink film? Only reason I ask that is because when I bought my 240g acrylic I thought I was gonna have to remove the paint from the back (it was a light baby blue as well) but once I really looked close I found it was just a heat shrink film applied by the manufacture.

Like I said I'm sure you probably already checked, but just on the off chance you hadn't then maybe you'd get luck like I did ;)

Whatever you do, do NOT use thinners like nail polish remover or acetone. A few members recommended that to me and it destroyed a panel on my 600 with crazing...

Steve,
It "looks" like baby blue latex paint to me. Now that I know what to look for I will double check. It's baby blue for sure, how did u remove you film?
Thanks
