How to remove glass

How do you guys get into the silicone for tanks with a center glass piece on top?

I use a razorblade to remove any silicone on the outside of the joint and then pull a wire through the seam to cut through. Do you have pics of the situation?

Go to a music store that sells guitar strings and get one of the really thin Electric guitar strings.

i used braided fishing line, its textured so it acts like saw teeth, i've never used a guitar string though, it may work better.
