Like the tilte says. How do you run PVC pipe through a pond liner. I'm currently in the design process of a new 1600gal pond and I need to run 2 1.25" PVC pipes through the liner to the pumps. Any help would be great!

Any standard bulkhead fitting will get the job done. Just make sure the rubber O-ring is on the waterside.

They come in slip fit or threaded.

I have just got some 1 1/2" slip-slips from marine depot.

Thanks for the info! I looked at the bulkhead. If i get the 1 1/2 one will the 1 1/2" pvc pipe fit into it on the water side? Or do i need to order a larger one. Also Should I use silicone to seal them as well or is the oring enough usually. I really don't want to have to deal with a leak.

The size listed is the size of pipe that fits in it.

For example I ordered 1 1/2" bulkheads. Standard 1 1/2" pipe fits in side. I had to drill a hole LARGER then 1 1/2 to fit the bulk head in. For Slip fit only. If it says threaded or FPT(female pipe thread) it will fit the threaded coupler of the listed size. i.e. 1 1/2" male pipe thread. Like my male thread to 1" barb fittings.

The O-ring is enough. Just make sure it's snug but don't over tighten it as that may crack it. Its the same type of O-ring set up that shower drains use in Millions of homes everyday, BUT using some silicone once everything is in place isn't a bad idea as silicone is cheap. Leaks can be expensive.

Thanks a lot muni. I just wanna make sure I have everything down that I need I wanna start the build on the 16th and finish on the 20th instead of dragging on and on for months. Lol it'll be my Xmas present to my fish.

Always nice to get things done in a timely fashion. Makes you feel like you accomplished something.

Get the bulkheads ordered then. They are only a few bucks each.

My neighbor built a pond and used bulkheads without issue. He has trout in it. But it's nearly an acre I think. 150 x 350 feet.

I was looking at the heavy duty double threaded one. any idea on how long are these i cant find it on there site. It will have to pass through 1/2" plywood along with the liner.
