I have an old tank that was used for some dwarf puffers. They wasted away and died, and i now believe they may have been infected with a parasite. I would like to reuse the tank now, but it's one of the tanks that has a filteration system built in. How would I go about sterilizing it so it can be used for new fish?

I usually fill and then salt the you know what out of it, let it run for a few days then drain and begin

Let it dry for a few days and fill it back up. Soon as it dries all the bacteria is dead. Either that or whip it with bleach (50/50 with water) and fill it up with a ton of prime

The mixture is actually supposed to be 10% bleach, 90% water.....but you can do 20/80 if you want

Would parasites die?
how long has it been empty/dry?

Use a 1 part bleach to 9 parts water solution as above. You can also use pure white vinegar if you have no bleach. Just make sure it doesn't have additives.

Either way just rinse it very well and dry it completely and you shouldn't have a problem. Make sure the media is totally rinsed and dried too.
