hello all

this is probably gonna be a quick question reallY... i currently have a freshwater setup.. 220 gal total.. ish.. 55 gal sump.. ( built when i came into the hobby)

the sump isnt really efficient .. knowing what i know now,

so my idea is to build a new one.. but i want to introduce it to the system and do away with the old sump..
im sure my new wet / dry sump will be smaller also..

any ideas how i do the change over with as little stress to the main tank

Mark

another idea would be to modify my original sump.. but again how do i take that from the system without disturbing anything.. has anyone had any experience in a filter changeover???

cheers

So, you have one sump to multiple tanks?

Do you plan to reuse the 55 or get something bigger

no its a single tank, and i want to upgrade my sump / filter sysytem.. would i run the new filter in conjunction with the old and slowly remove media from the old to establish the new wet / dry do you think??

any other ideas?

i did that a few years ago. I got a bigger sump and transferred all the bio balls to the new sump. I did not run them both at the same time and i did not have any issues.
