I got this canister filter with my tank when I bought it a year ago. The guy just tossed it in while I was hauling the tank into my car. I currently have 2 HOB filters running in my 55 gallon, and I don't think it would hurt to get another filter running in it. I just don't know how to set it up because it didn't come with any directions, just the canister itself. Is this even worth setting up?

Please let me know guys... Any help would be great

i would run the can with 1 hob filter you dont want too much current

Yes, thats an oldie...

You will have to check the large O-ring for sealing the head to the base for pliability, and the O-ring for the impellar cover, as these will probably need replacing (unless the former owner recently did).

Also check the screw downs that hold the hoses in place for small cracks that may split open. The 203 that I recently got for $10 (and its the newer dark grey unit) needed the O-rings replaced and the hose clamps were no good.

Also looks like you need another clip for the lid.

Check that stuff out and you should be good to go....

i bought one of those very used about 2 years ago and replaced the o ring. It still runs fine but is getting a little noisy.

The old 03 series are not my favorite of the Fluvals but I cant argue with the price. Run it 100 bio with nothing but ceramic rings or if you prefur...scrubbies. This will maximize the flow rate and reduce the strain on the motor.

Definatly pick up a new O ring for the housing or at the very least spray the old one down with PAM cooking spray...(No vasolive !! patrolium based products will distroy natural rubber seals.)

That is an oldie! I ran two similar 303's continuously for over 10 years but if it's been sitting then you definately need to check the seals and check for play in the magnet/impeller well. The magnet/impeller is replaceable. You can probably run it without the missing clip but you should replace it if possible. I always use ceramic rings in the bottom tray, chemi-pure in the second, and foam in the third tray(top). thatfishplace.com usually has replacement parts.

wow oldschool
that should be in a museummm.

just fill the media, check to see if it has a push primer, if not fill to top with water.run pump and watch it filter
