Hi, everyone. I just bought three angelfish. I bought one gold marble (Francesca), a marble veil (Louie), and a smokey blue leopard veil angelfish (Leo). The gold marble is slightly larger than a quarter (not including the fins) and the other two angels are around 3-4 inches. I was wondering if anybody has any way of telling the sex of these angelfish as I would like to know out of curiosity. If you breed angelfish, it'd be nice to hear of traits that are commonly seen in male angelfish and traits commonly seen in female angelfish such as fin shape, head shape, behaviour, etc... Thank you for your help!

There no easy way to tell the sex of Angelfish short of watching them breed, I have been fooled more than once when what I thought was a male started laying eggs. The female will have a wider blunter tube the male's will be thinner and pointed. Once a pair forms the male and female will stake out a terratory or breeding site and clean it while aggressivly keeping all others away.

Thank you! I think mine are still a little young to be breeding, but will the tubes still be visible when "breeding season" approaches?
