Those are the main things I would look for yesh. Extended dorsal and anal fins and at least the beginning of a nauchal hump.

Females also have the splash of colors on their cheeks like Dempsey females. Plus their body is a little more round than the male. Color not as intense in the female either.
Don't be too hung up on color, body shape, and fin shape. A lot of the time, you can tell a male by these things, but it's not fool proof.
This is one I use to have:
I was pretty certain it was a male because I was judging mostly by fin shape. I thought the color and head shape showed that it was a male too. Then, she laid eggs.
The best way to determine sex is obviously to vent it.

mine looks exactly like this one and also laid eggs so now im looking for a male
