Males have claspers. Females do not. Claspers are genetically modified pelvic fins.

they all have 2 fins. Its the shape of the fins that determine the gender.

This is a male... you see the 2 longer dangley bits, if it doesnt have those then it is female, bear in mind though that a young pups claspers (dangley bits) will be much smaller!
