Can anyone tell me how to sex severum? I finally got my red spot severum and I really enjoy is laxidasical personality seems just just be very chill but beautifully colored at the same time. I was thinking of maybe getting a green to go with him or her.

Can you sex form this pic? my GT is the center of most of the pics but these are the only shots I have.

Anyone? Cant find much online must be these are hard to sex.

It's very likely a male. The worm like lines and spots on the cheeks are on males. Females usually have 'clear" cheeks or minimally marked ones. Having said that, this a line bred "man made" severum and this could change things. I have seen golds where there are unmarked and marked males, and the same for the females. Here are a couple of pics of sp. Rotkeil to illustrate the difference.

Thank you I greatly appreciate it. I have read this before about the lines but with the red dot gold severum I never see the ones without lines. Are these the males of the gold severum?

No, yours is the Red or Red spot Severum variety. Here are two of my golds ... both males.

You have some nice looking severums thanks for the info.

All the red/super red severums I have ever seen show face spotting, even the females. I don't think you can accurately sex them that way. Your best bet is to vent them or wait and see if it pairs with a severum tankmate, unfortunately.

Can someone sex these for me I thought both male but they just laid there first eggs so obviously one is female. I'm think8ng red spot is the male? What you guys think?
