I've found a few great deals here, but am losing out because the seller does not know how or is not willing to ship. Please let me know how bichirs should be packaged for shipping. Another point that came up is their ability to breathe atmospheric oxygen and survive while not totally submerged as long as their skin remains moist. Thus, a point of contention is whether 2 day priority mail would be a valid option. Please let me know what your experiences have been in shipping polypterus. Thanks.

i don't have experience shipping. bichirs are hardy, but personally i'd never do 2 day shipping. i always like them to be in transit for as little time as possible to avoid accidents and unnecessary stress.

When we get them in at a fish shop they come in bags like any other fish. And there are never any problems. I would suggest the quickest time frame possible though.

First off do you really trust the post office to get anything there on time? They need to be placed in plastic bags double bag would be better, filled about 1/3-1/2 with water then pure O2.have them shhipped overnight. The less time in transit would be best-Anne

My 4 polys (ornate, delhezi, butterkoferi, and palmas) took 2 days to get to me. Shipper used USPS Express, but the post office only promises 2 days (not overnight). They came in perfectly fine and healthy, and their doing great so far. However, I would not recommend, since it was both mine and the shipper's intention to make it 1 day.
