I would like to buy an Ultima II either a 2000 or 4000 but I am having trouble finding pumps that can do the job.

The 2000 allows a max flow of 2500g but 2000g @ 10' of head for backwashing.
The 4000 allows a max flow of 4500g but also needs 4000g at 10' of head for backwashing.

Any suggestions about which pumps would be suitable for each filter??

For my 4000s I will be using ReeFlo Barracuda pumps. Max flow rate 4500. 3333 at 8 feet. Top of my tank is 6 feet from the floor, so will be pumping water no more than 6.5 feet up. The Ultimas will be sitting on the floor, so will have more than adequate flow rate when purging.

Yep, go with the Reeflo pumps. The barracuda should do OK.

Thanks guys for the info as I was worried I would not be able to backwash without the pump having the head height.
I also wanted to know if Reeflo pumps can placed under a tank (500g)?
I have read that they are not pressure rated so does that mean they will leak?

Barracuda for the 4000 but what about the 2000?
Super Dart gold??

Where are the filtration gurus johnptc and CHOMPERS!!!!
