How to Slow the Flow on Bio-Wheel Filter?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
pre-filter over the intake/sponge .. but why would you? I run the 200's on my 3 20's... 2 20h 1 20L.. soemtimes i don't think it's enough >.< and the 150's I run on my 2 10's. no problems w/ my fish swimming ect. But pre-filter sponge will help drop your current.

Alternately you could buy or make a spraybar to diffuse the flow you've got, rather than cut it back

A sponge over the intake will restrict the flow and effectively lower it.

Another option is to attach a open cell sponge to the spillway where the water comes out so that the current is broken up.

I think your problem is more current related then flow. So you can just distribute the flow more to get less current.

I like the spray bar idea, i hear yeah on the flow rate

So I got a Marineland Bio-Wheel 150 yesterday for my 20gal tank but the water flow is very strong and I was wondering how can I slow it down?

if the bio wheel is new, the flow will be strong. but once your bb colonies establish into the bio wheel the flow will decrease a bit.

just let you fish get used to the new filter flow, they will adapt
