So I know this seems like an easy question but, what if I wanted to sterilize a tank that had fish in it and is now a perfectly cycled tank and I did not want to kill the cycle? The best Idea I have come up with is to heat it to an insane temp but I know there are things that can survive high heat so any ideas on if this would work or not and any other ideas.....thanks peace out

Well you cant sterilize the tank and leave the cycle intact, otherwise it is not sterile.

What are you trying to accomplish? Rid the tank of ich or fish parasites? If so you could turn the heat up to about 85-90 and feed the tank ammonia to keep the cycle going. After about a month of this I would expect all fish parasites and diseases to be gone.

Thanks for the replys and ya I used the wrong words I want the bilogicals to stay in tack but want any parisites to die, the tank had fish from a creek in it and i want to transfer my african cichlid fry into it butu do not want them to get infected with anything, I put one red zebra fry in there and he is doing ok grew really fast and does not have any signs of parasites so i am thinking if i heat treat it it should be good
