Can anyone tell me how to take a tank apart? I got a 55 gallon with 3 good pcs of glass and I'm wanting to salvage the glass for my bearded dragon enclosure but I can't seam to get the black plastic frame off the glass. When I try I just get the feeling somethings about to explode (tempered glass). Any suggestions on how to do this would be great! Thanks!-verruckt

I cannot speak from experience, only what I read at one point on here.

Run a razor along the seams to get rid of any glue/silicone between the glass and plastic rim. I think that had to be done a lot. Then take a board and put the flat edge on the glass and let it sit onto the plastic rim and knock the wood with the hammer to loosen the rim. I would use a finished piece of wood as opposed to a 2x4 or whatever rough. The sharper the edge on the board the better, and the closer in length the board is to the tank/rim length the better. Also put a notepad or something hard on the glass where you plan to hit the board with the hammer. Any misses that hit the tank, well, you know.

Yeah I bet hot water would help but the tank is 2 busted sides. Could probably stick what's left of it in a bathtub of hot water. I started cutting at the seams the other day but got to cold. Its been around 10 degrees here lately and snowing so was afraid id bust it due to my garage not bein much warmer than outside
