So i finally broke down and traded in my big female Veil Angel, and they gave me 6 quarter size babies and 2 tiny bristlenose for her:WHOA: , anyway how will i know when they start to pair off? Sometimes they swim in pairs but then the pairs chaneg up or they just swim in a school, or singly.

I think you have apair wen you see eggs witha a litle tail.

till then, it may be 2 femals if there are egs or two mails if no eggs at all.
Being togheteher does not mean much...

THey will like most cichlids and you may not see this happen.. But a lip lock is generally the start and then they swim together and then eggs.. Thats the simple version :)

hope your BNs turn out to be a male and female too, then you'll be breeding both.

NO doubt :) That will be fullfilling as well...

A pair will lock lips and do the cichlid love tug of war. They will also be kicking the other fish's butts (or trying to) in true cichlids in love fashion.

I bought mine as a pair and so although I never saw them pair off, they do indeed act like a couple. They are always together, swimming or resting, and, even sometimes bicker then make up :hearts:
Of course, they'll chase everyone around with a vengence while spawning :)

Look for them sectioning off an area of the tank. Also, the lip lock, but watch for them to be cleaning a semi-flat surface and for their papilla to drop.
