HI there...i'm thingking of adding my collection with a nice Red Tail Giant Gourami....

My question is how do u tell them apart between Red Tail one and Regular one?

Is the red tail shows the color when he's still small?

i just saw one pic in the other thread about Giant Gouramis....in that picture the small one has already start showing some nice red coloring in tail and fin...

are all the red tail supposed to somewhat have red fins even in such small size? i know the red might not as intense as that pics but at least the red MUST visible in such small size?

My RTGG didn't show hardly any red when I obtained it at ~2". It's now ~7" and not only are the tail and dorsal a red/orange but the top 2/3 of its body is as well. I've seen some RTGG that are a very intense red even at a young age but mine however was not. Good luck.

Here is mine at juvie stage....

Red was pretty intense already and the body was much darker.

The reds are normally showing their colours at 2" and always by 4". I find the reds are more elongated in body shape than the regulars. Buy your red at 4" or bigger and you should have no problem.
