I am not an expert on this and I've been wanting to ask this question,
I believe that all endlis and bichirs here in indo are locally farm breed, so I havent seen WC bichirs so far other than in MFK.com
Some of the info I found in this forum, said that WC endli could grow bigger, where as CBs stands out more in patterns. Are there anymore ways to distinguish the different?
Same question applied to other species polys, what are the major differences between WC and CB in them?
pls share thoughts..
cheers

Once you find an odd patterned endli, then that for sure is a CB. Some CB however do look like some WC and can grow big as well. Really hard to tell apart if it look like a WC unless you know the seller or where they come in.

couldn't it be seen from the head shape of the endli, maybe? though there are examples of WC endlis in the photo lounge, but sometimes people can only recognize the endli after reading the title of the thread which says WC endli. So I suppose looking at the patterns is the easiest to tell if its WC or not. Perhaps similar case with the delhezy.

Well some CB Can still resemble a WC even del. I have two 11" CB del that look WC. Those usually that are breed in Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore and Japan have those weird patterns. Usually from those mass producing farms. However I have never seen a CB with no frogs. All CB I seen have frogs eyes. Also some WC do have them too.

The question of "Is my bichir CB or WC?", is kinda hard to answer if the bichir don't look weird or still resembles a WC. The best way is ask the supplier where they got the fish. But even if they came from Africa don't expect it's a WC as there are farms in Nigeria and Guinea. So not all bichir that came from Africa are WC.

The only bichirs that are for sure WC are:
P.Mokelembembe
P. Palmas Beuttikoferi
P. Palmas Palmas
P. Retropinnis
P. Tuegelsi
P. sp. Koliba and other undescribe species.

thanks for the thought,
those bichirs will never be found here, unless some people import them, and start breeding them. So far, these are the only CB bichirs species that are available here in indo:
p. endlicheri, p. plat endli
p. endlicheri congicus / cross between endlicheri x congicus, NOT SURE!
p. senegal, albino, longfinned, platinum, longfinned platinum senegal
p. delhesy, albino del, plat del
p. lapradei
p. palmas polli, platinum polli
p. ornate, albino, platinum
I am looking forward to find a plat congi, perhaps will start my own breeding project.
