Hi guys. I have a giant snakehead and I bought a bottle of dried krills for them to eat. Another channa gachua ate the krills, but this won't. It even ate my Chinese hi-fi charm which was similar to it's size. It bitten it then didn't ate it. I was furious so I locked him down in an independent tank. So how to train it to eat dried krills? Thanks. Will it die or have some kind of diseases if it live in this tank independently and it haven't started to eat yet. I'm afraid that it will die.

If social learning isnt an option youll simply have to condition the fish.

In order to condition the fish u may want to use a food that it is currently accepting and once an association is built with the food and a stimuli you may switch out the prefferred food for the krill.

I use this method to get pike cichlids to eat pellets off the surface.

I also conditioned my gulper catfish to come get their food when i plunge a pvc pipe up and down so i dont have to put my hand in the tank.

Even when i get my fish onto krill as a staple theyll go on hunger strikes if they got a taste of something else. ive never had a fish that particularly liked krill but ive had hundreds that wont touch the stuff.

Why do you have the water so low in the aquarium?

Bcoz I asked my local pet shop about that and they said put low water level as snakeheads will normally breathe themselves.
I dont selll snakeheads but I've never heard of the height of the water in the tank having anything to do with fish's breathing.I would get some more water in that tank which would give the fish more room to move around and place a lid on the top.Do you have a filter on there?

Giant snakeheads are only interested at live foods and you from MY ? it seems like your water level is low and in giant channa species emperor snakeheads are the ones will take dead food, but not the giant snakehead
