In one of my breeder tanks I had a fungus break out, probably overfed the fry and left the pump off too long while doing so was the culprit. Overnight I lost the fry and eyes on one of the parents clouded with a more prominent white spot on each eye. Repsonded to tetracycline and salt. Unfortunately I lost the fry and tansferred the parnets to a hospital tank. I broke down the breeder tank. I plan to set it up again and put it back into use. I cleaned the filter sponge with hot water. How long should it sit completely dry for it to be safe to use again and is there anything else suggested to do for treatment? Of should I throw it out and replace it. Thanks

I have heard of some people putting their sponge filters in the washing machine or dishwasher(without soap). I think some time being fry should be pretty safe. Even if there were somehow traces of fungus it generally is not a primary infection on other-wise healthy fish.
