I know this should be in the Breeding forum, but at the time of posting, the breeding forums has 3 viewers, while the cichlid forum has 36. I have a pair of dovii (female 4.5 inches, male 6.5 inches) in a 75 gallon aquarium. I know they are a pair because they were guarding wrigglers in the store. Anyway, since I purchased them, I haven't been able to get them to spawn. I tried raising the temperature to 84 degrees and doing a water change with 77 degree water, but I didn't get any results. Is there anything else I can do?

its not cramped in a 75 2fish 6.5inch and 5.5inch!!!!
you say its cramped as its a dovii but there baby dovii which is 12inchs of fish in total which isnt alot.
i would say start feeding 3times aday,1st-frozen or live,2nd-staple,3rd frozen or live.
while doing a w/c add slighty cooler water
also get a tank divider and GL

I'll try the feeding thing, that's sounds like a good idea. I don't think I'll need a divider. The male has been showing off to the female alot, but he is not harming her at all.

My bet is they haven't been in your tank for long. The sulking period can be around 6 weeks before they settle properly. How long have they been in your tank? Gotta give 'em time to settle.

If the male is showing off to the female then you just have to make sure she eats well and fattens up with eggs. She should be ready in a few weeks but make sure she has a place to hide in case the males gets violent.

agree with above.
i would actually separate them for now and seriously power feed the female to bring her up to her peak. if the male is getting all showy and the female isn't ready there could be a chance he just gets fed up one day and goes ape sh*t. don't want to come home to a beat up female. my 2 cents.
