i would like to know how to ween ngt and silver dats to nonlive foods i lost my last silverdat to being to lazy to chase feeders he would chase them then just give up it was sad so i dont want that happening again

What non live food do you plan on feeding them? Have you experimented with varieties of food? Try market shrimp. Cut them up into small pieces and drop them in the tank. See if they will accept it. I am sure they will because thats how I got all my datnoids to take non live food. Pellets are tricky. Two of ten datnoid's I have eat pellets because they were already trained when they were still young. With pellets you can starve them until they give in on the pellets.
How big of a tank are you putting the silver dats into?
I have found that AT are the easiest to get onto other foods and are extremely greedy.
I would start them off on live blackworms and then after they get use to hitting the worms as they fall you can introduce other foods along with the worms and they should take to it in no time.
Are you sure they didn't have any parasites?

I find it hard to believe you last dat died from not being able to catch feeders how would it have lived in the wild
Don't feed feeders anymore offer frozen shrimp every day remove if not eattern
EAT OR DIE only a foolish fish will die of starvation when there is food in the tank every day
It's not the fish that needs to be weened of feeders it's the owner needs to be weened of feeding feeder
