I have a 30 gallon (36x12) That i want to make into a south american biotope.
could you guys help name some plants that would be nice together, look good, but also be simple for a noobie to take care of. I already have a sword plant and would like another. I don't know what kind of carpet plant to use:confused:
also i know i will stock it with some sort of attractive tetra and red cherry shrimp.

I can't find anything on diy co2, like pictures on how to make it can u help with that issue too?

THANKS!!!

I saw some guy using peat moss (i think) as a fist layer for substrate, is this a good idea, if so what does it do ?
Depending on the hardness levels (KH and GH), peat moss can leach tannins that may make a significant decrease in your pH. Make sure your KH is no lower than 3 to stabilize the pH.

Carpet plant: Echinodorus tennellus or hairgrass (not really a carpet).

micro sword for forground. Keep in mind that an Amazon sword gets pretty big. It will probably take over that sized tank.
There are a lot of instructions on DIY co2. Just google it.

ok thanks. I guess i can skip on the sword. I was really looking at amazon plants nd I came up with these: Stargrass cabomba rosafolia, tropical hornwort, jungle val(maybe), Bacopa, red ludwiga and red stem milfoil. would these work out nicely? and are these hard to grow??
