I just got two nice piesces of wood from the lfs, that the guy said would sink right away with no problem, well it has been over a month and i still nee to keep huge rocks on them to keep them down which is kill my plans for the tank, any ideas

i got lucky and 2 branches grew together creating a little hole... i slid a metal rod thru the hole and put some slate on the rods ends.. held one piece down for me damn near perfectly! as for my other piece in my convict tank... it will never sink.. but i didint buy mine form a store i got mine from a riverbank! the piece on the right has the rod going thru it!

some times it can take ages, even years. your just going to have to weigh it down and wait it out.

i have had success with gluing them to slate, using aquarium silicone. Also i have has success with drilling a hole through slate and then screwing the wood down taht way. Other than that, kost if the time it takes along time. If you have a big enough bucket with a lid, you might try and soak it in there for a few days, using hot water. That worked for a friend of mine, but his wood was small.

Well, you should always soak your driftwood in hot water for a few days before putting it in the tank. That is what I do and usually it sinks within a week.

buy a sheet of plexi cut a large piece. screw the wood to the plexi. place in aquarium cover the plexi sheet with substrate. if you have more than one piece of wood cut the plexi sheet to the footprint of the tank attach wood. place in tank cover the plexi with the substrate.

Great Idea!

I try to sink wood in my pond. Some large pieces sink quickly and I have a piece that is 1 inch thich and has not sunk in a year. I screw all of mine to slate with stainless steel screws.
