I would like to know how stubborn cichla's are about changing their diet. I was thinking of getting a Temensis but it has always been fed live food. So how long will i have to starve the bass till it will accept pellets? Anyone with this situation or has been through this same situation, please give some info.... thanks!

depends...i got mine when there where 2'', eating nothing but rosey reds...a week later blood worms, then a month, shrimp.

im in the same boat. i have one mono, and one occels. they are stubborn, my jar and silver eats food stick, FD krill all day. It true peacook love live food. when i starve them i feel bad, and end up going to the lfs and getting feeders.

by the way, they have the grid at tap plastic. call them and ask if they have it in store.

it all different....mine are 5.5" are and took me about a month to get them fully onto pellets

Hmmm.... a month huh... did you starve them for the whole month tho?

i have three monos that are 6-8.5" when they are this size it seems that they tend accept pellets rather then at a size of say 2-3", my little juvies would take it in the pellets and spit them back out, i've never starve them, the way i got my three monos to eat pellets was to wrap the pellets in live blood worms put it on a stick and feed them from the top of the tank, they would first spit out the pellets and just eat the worms but later on they just eat the whole thing, slowly remove the blood worms from the meals and they'll just eat the pellets worked for me!

whenever i had teacher fish,it would only take a day or two for them to learn.
the most stubborn ones only took 3-4 days.

wow... thats super fast!!

i also have a temensis but he was not a picky eater like my other pbass the next day i drop in some sinking pellets and bang eat took them down like a champ, just keep trying, try first like silversides, shrimp then move on to pellets from there because my other pbass started just takin silversides
