got some snails which came with the plants that seem to populate extremly fast and they might be good for cleaning but i rather be without them. anyhow ive been reading some and seen that theres fish that eats them and theyr eggs unfortunetly theese small Chromobotia macracanthus http://www.akvariefisk.com/art/praktbotia.php dont know theyr english name would get eaten in a heartbeat. anyone with some other suggestions?

you can use chemical i.e. snail away or something along them lines ,or purchace a bigger snail eater , the one you mention we call clown loach get pretty large and if you can find a big one it would do the job quite well , Chilotilapia rhoadesii is another largeish snail eater from malawi , and tilapia butterkoferi are quite a robust cichlid that eats snails also

I bought snail predators, pretty much all fish will eat snail eggs (even my pleco does) but to take care to the ones that hatch (cause the snails get into places you're fish can't, like the filter and breed there) I got a lepard leaf fish, (Ctenopoma acutirostre Pellegrin) and he hunts them all day long. He spends most of his time stalking them (though I don't know if the stalking part is neccesary. he just enjoys it). He can hold his own against my tirte track eel who's over 2')My Black ghost knife was also very fond of snails.

I had a snail infestation a couple of years ago and I even tried boiling everything in the tank and completly disassemling the filter and boiling as well, and they still came back. Getting a fish that will control the population is the way to go in my opinion. I think they're highly benificial for your tank (not your Plants though) if kept in check

Hi,

snails are useful, and no harm.
Dont use chemiocals ore buy snail "predators" like puffers or loaches.
Whats when all th snails have gone ? How to feed the pred ?
Snails eat whats leftover, algae and dead parts of plants.
I wish I had some in my tanks, but my damned channa all love some, and eat them.

I advice to feed less, and the snail population will be reduced to a normal level

Well i dont want them! i know its good and blabla but :) which is the largest "snail eater" type of fish? could u give me a link with some info about it? would be much apprcieated thanks !

Put in a piece of cucumber at night, and collect them in the morning
